Prevention is an act of responsibility and love. Every member of the People of God has a right to feel protected and safe in the Church.

Through training programs, the Memorare Initiative seeks to prevent new cases of sexual abuse from occurring.

Prevention

A prevention program should consider and cover all types of populations, environments, and protective and risk factors.

Integral

Approach

FORMATION

To provide the information and knowledge necessary to understand the impact, consequences and aftermath of sexual abuse on victims, their families and communities.

EDUCATION

Know and identify risk and protective factors for sexual abuse. To learn why and how to establish boundaries and healthy forms of interaction between adults, minors and vulnerable people. To promote a culture of respect and care for people.

Prevention is based on the creation and strengthening of a culture of care for others and the development of safe environments in all ecclesial settings, so that the Church becomes, as Pope Francis has said, “the safest house of all”.
