Padre Small \u00e9 origin\u00e1rio de Liverpool (Inglaterra) e trabalhou em minist\u00e9rios paroquiais no Brasil e nos Estados Unidos, trabalhou com o Cardeal Se\u00e1n Patrick O’Malley, OFM Cap, por muitos anos, incluindo seu servi\u00e7o como Diretor do Escrit\u00f3rio do Bispo dos Estados Unidos para a Am\u00e9rica Latina e assessor pol\u00edtico para a Am\u00e9rica Latina no Escrit\u00f3rio para a Justi\u00e7a e Paz Internacional (2004-2011).<\/span><\/p>\n

Nestas fun\u00e7\u00f5es, Pe. Andrew foi respons\u00e1vel pela defesa dos direitos humanos e desenvolvimento econ\u00f4mico em toda a \u00c1frica e Am\u00e9rica Latina e trabalhou com Teresa Kettelkamp, ent\u00e3o Diretora do Escrit\u00f3rio de Prote\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 Crian\u00e7a e ao Adolescente. Juntos, eles desenvolveram um protocolo para garantir a conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o entre as entidades da Igreja que solicitam financiamento da USCCB, um esfor\u00e7o que acabou sendo o modelo para todos os escrit\u00f3rios internacionais de subs\u00eddios da Confer\u00eancia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Como Diretor Nacional das Sociedades Mission\u00e1rias Pontif\u00edcias (2011-2021), o Pe. Small continuou a adquirir um amplo conhecimento pessoal da Igreja no Sul Global e da conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o para a salvaguarda das estruturas nesses pa\u00edses. Ele administrou um programa de subs\u00eddios de 40 milh\u00f5es de d\u00f3lares, quase em totalidade na \u00c1frica, que incluiu uma iniciativa para aumentar o financiamento para treinamento de irm\u00e3s religiosas, irm\u00e3os e padres da \u00c1frica e da \u00c1sia no Centro de Prote\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 Crian\u00e7a.<\/span><\/p>\n

Entre suas \u00e1reas de especializa\u00e7\u00e3o, o Pe. Small tem ampla experi\u00eancia no desenvolvimento e adapta\u00e7\u00e3o de estruturas eclesi\u00e1sticas.\u00a0 Sua experi\u00eancia inclui o doc\u00eancia em direito internacional no Georgetown University Law Center (2006-2009) e bacharelado em direito pela Sheffield University, Inglaterra (LL.B.) e mestrado em Georgetown University Law Center, EUA (LL.M.).\u00a0 O Pe. Andrew tamb\u00e9m obteve o doutorado em teologia sistem\u00e1tica (S.Th.D.) pela Universidade Cat\u00f3lica da Am\u00e9rica e fala franc\u00eas, espanhol, portugu\u00eas e italiano.<\/span><\/p>\n
