DR. EMILIE RIVET DUVAL

Clinical Psychologist
Emilie Rivet Duval holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Sydney, Australia. She directs the Bureau of Psychology for the Diocese of Port-Louis (Mauritius) and is a member of the Diocesan Committee dealing with allegations about sexual assaults on minors within the Diocese of Port-Louis.
Dr Duval also manages the ‘Action for Integral Human Development’ (AIHD) centre, which promotes the implementation of the international school programs “Skills for Life” in primary schools in Mauritius, and provides listening and counselling services within the Catholic secondary schools’ network in the region.
Dr. Duval is a member of the Association of Professional Psychologists of Mauritius and a member of the Kolektif Drwa Zanfan Morisien (KDZM) association for Mauritian children’s rights.
Dr. Duval’s has published and presented extensively on child and adolescent mental health, and preventing adolescent depression.
Her current areas of study and research include victimology and psycho-traumatology, complex traumas; Therapeutical care of victims of sexual abuse, psychopathology and practical care for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
In 2022, Pope Francis appointed her a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors.
