ROME — Registration has opened for the second Annual Encounter on abuse prevention in consecrated life, organised by the Commission. The international gathering will take place in Rome from 9 to 11 December 2026.
Titled Called to Communion, Care and Justice: Mutual Relations for a Shared Mission, the encounter will bring together Church leaders and safeguarding practitioners from around the world to reflect on lessons learned, share good practices, and strengthen a culture of safeguarding and accountability within consecrated life.
Participants are expected to include representatives from Institutes of Consecrated Life, Societies of Apostolic Life, Conferences and Unions of Major Superiors, bishops, dicasteries of the Roman Curia, and other ecclesial actors engaged in safeguarding and prevention.
The three-day meeting is designed as a synodal, results-oriented learning lab grounded in the findings of the Commission’s Third Annual Report on Church Policies and Procedures for Safeguarding, covering the 2025 reporting period and due for publication in October 2026.
According to the Commission, the encounter will focus on identifying key lessons emerging from its Annual Reports, promoting the exchange of experiences across diverse contexts, and developing practical recommendations to strengthen safeguarding practices. It will also initiate the synodal process leading toward the Fourth Annual Report, planned for publication in October 2027.
The venue in Rome will be confirmed later in the year.
Registration is now open and can be completed online at:
